Even out sun damage, redness, and brown spots with an IPL photofacial at Image Maker Aesthetics in Coral Gables. Intense Pulsed Light targets discoloration below the surface to reveal clearer, brighter, more even-toned skin — with little to no downtime.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses broad-spectrum light to address the pigment and vessels that cause an uneven complexion. It is one of the most versatile ways to correct sun spots, age spots, freckles, redness, rosacea, and visible capillaries on the face, neck, chest, and hands. Many patients also notice a smoother texture and a brighter overall tone after treatment.
Pulses of light are absorbed by excess melanin (brown spots) and hemoglobin (redness). That energy breaks up the pigment and diminishes tiny vessels, while your body naturally clears the treated cells over the following days. Brown spots often darken briefly and then flake away, leaving fresher skin underneath.
A session takes about 30–45 minutes. You will feel a light, warm snap with each pulse — most patients tolerate it easily. Afterward the skin may look slightly pink for a few hours, and brown spots can appear darker for several days before sloughing off. For sun-exposed Miami skin, we usually recommend a short series spaced a few weeks apart, plus diligent SPF to protect your results.
IPL treats tone and color; to also refine texture and firmness, many patients combine it with microneedling with radiofrequency or a HydraFacial. During your consultation we will map out the right sequence for your skin and goals.
With more than 35 years of physician-led experience in Coral Gables, we tailor every IPL setting to your skin type and concerns — an important step for treating pigment safely on Miami’s diverse complexions.
How many sessions will I need? Many patients see a real difference after one session, but a series of 3–5 spaced a few weeks apart gives the most complete, even result.
Is there downtime? Very little. You may be slightly pink for a few hours, and brown spots flake over several days. Most people return to normal activities right away.
Does it hurt? Most patients describe a quick, warm snap. Treatment is comfortable and takes under an hour.
Can I do IPL in the summer? Because IPL targets pigment, we treat away from active tans and stress daily SPF. We’ll advise on timing at your visit.
